The department plays a crucial role in training high-quality human resources who are capable of designing, manufacturing, testing, and operating intelligent integrated systems, meeting the development needs of Industry 4.0.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2. History of Formation and Development<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The department has a developmental journey of more than two decades with important milestones:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>January 28, 1999<\/strong>: The Department of Mechatronics was established, marking a new step in the development of mechatronics education in Vietnam. Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology was the first university in the country to train full-time undergraduate students in the Mechatronics major.<\/li>\n<li><strong>November 11, 2006<\/strong>: The Department of Mechatronics merged with the Department of Automatic Control Engineering to form the Department of Mechatronics, creating a strong team of lecturers and researchers, contributing to enhancing the quality of training and scientific research for the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>For more than two decades, the department has continuously expanded its scale, improved its training programs, and built a research ecosystem closely linked to the practical needs of businesses and society.<\/p>\n<p>3. <strong>Vision<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>To become an international standard center for training, research, and innovation in the field of Mechatronics. The department aims to closely link training with the needs of the high-tech labor market, expand effective cooperation with industrial partners, and promote interdisciplinary research, with close domestic and international collaboration.<\/p>\n<p><strong>4. Mission<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The mission of the department is to train generations of mechatronics engineers with the competence and qualities to become future technology leaders:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Solid professional knowledge.<\/li>\n<li>Diverse practical experience.<\/li>\n<li>Effective teamwork and communication skills.<\/li>\n<li>An entrepreneurial and innovative spirit.<\/li>\n<li>A sense of responsibility in developing environmentally friendly technology.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>5. Strategic Goals<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>To realize its vision and mission, the department has set out strategic goals:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Develop a team of lecturers and researchers with international qualifications.<\/li>\n<li>Build practical training programs that are linked to national science and technology development policies and the needs of businesses.<\/li>\n<li>Continuously improve the quality of training and research.<\/li>\n<li>Expand modern facilities and laboratories to effectively serve teaching and research.<\/li>\n<li>Build strong research groups capable of international publications and implementing interdisciplinary cooperation projects.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>6. Training Programs<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Currently, the department participates in teaching many programs across different training systems, meeting the needs of integration and development:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Full-time undergraduate training programs: a standard program taught in Vietnamese, a program taught in English, and a Talented Engineer program.<\/li>\n<li>High-Quality Vietnamese-French Engineer Training Program (PFIEV), where students graduate with an engineer&#8217;s degree and a diploma supplement recognized by French and European universities.<\/li>\n<li>The Mechatronics Engineering program taught in English currently has two specializations: Mechatronics Engineering and Robotics Engineering.<\/li>\n<li>The Master of Mechatronics Engineering program consists of two modes: course-based and research-based.<\/li>\n<li>The department is planning to open a PhD training program in Mechatronics Engineering.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>All programs emphasize a balance between theoretical foundations, laboratory practice, and practical experience through projects, theses, and business internships, helping students develop comprehensively and be ready to integrate into the international labor market.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>7. Key Activities and Achievements<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Throughout its development, the department has achieved many important accomplishments and milestones:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Successfully organized numerous international and national conferences on mechatronics, automation, and artificial intelligence.<\/li>\n<li>Conducted research and technology transfer collaborations with leading enterprises in the fields of smart manufacturing, robotics, logistics, biomedical, and energy.<\/li>\n<li>Contributed many research works published in prestigious international journals (ISI\/Scopus).<\/li>\n<li>Students have won numerous high awards in national and international academic and scientific research competitions.<\/li>\n<li>Regarding accreditation, the department has programs that have achieved the following accreditations:<\/li>\n<li>The full-time undergraduate training program met AQAS accreditation standards (2022 \u2013 2028).<\/li>\n<li>The Programme de Formation d\u2019Ing\u00e9nieurs d\u2019Excellence au Vietnam (PFIEV) met CTI accreditation standards (2022 \u2013 2028).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>8. Main Research Directions<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The department focuses on developing modern research directions that are closely linked to global technology trends:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Industrial robots and mobile robots.<\/li>\n<li>Smart manufacturing systems and smart factories.<\/li>\n<li>Embedded systems and intelligent control.<\/li>\n<li>Automation in logistics and smart transportation.<\/li>\n<li>Applications of artificial intelligence and the Internet of Things (IoT) in mechatronics.<\/li>\n<li>Biomedical technology and devices for diagnosis and treatment support.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>9.
