A ceremony to award the institutional-level HCERES (High Council for the Evaluation of Research and Higher Education) accreditation certificate (2nd cycle) for 4 higher education institutions including Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology-VNUHCM (HCMUT), Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST), Hanoi University of Civil Engineering and Danang University of Science and Technology took place at Danang University of Science and Technology on the afternoon of the 14th June 2024.
The event welcomed the presence of representatives from the Ministry of Education and Training, HCERES, Consortium of higher education institutions, persons in charge of the PFIEV at French universities, French Embassy in Vietnam, PFIEV in Vietnam, Danang University of Science and Engineering and the Board of Directors of 04 higher education institutions as certificate awardees.
The event marked the 2nd time the 04 institutions have qualified to be granted the institutional-level HCERES accreditation certificate valid for 5 years from April 10th, 2024 to April 10th, 2029. Among them, HCMUT was given the certificate without conditions. Given the recognition, HCMUT is not made to implement recommendations in the evaluation report nor supervision from HCERES.
“I am extremely excited that HCMUT continues to receive the unconditional HCERES quality inspection certification for 05 years. Given comments, the evaluators also recognize improvements by the University compared to cycle 1 with great efforts made by a collective of the leaders, lecturers, and staff of HCMUT. The certificate awarded proves that the University has achieved its goals,” HCMUT President Assoc. Prof. Mai Thanh Phong shared at the ceremony.
Over the years, the University has set the important goals of having been excellent in training and research with key tasks such as i) innovating the university administration system, ii) continuously improving training programs, iii) promoting support for research, iv) improving researcher quality, v) continuously investing in upgrading infrastructure to serve training and scientific research, vi) and strengthening the education internationalisation.
The University is aware that quality assurance is significant to achieve the set core goals, especially hoping that accreditation activities can discover points that need improvement to enhance quality. HCMUT has accordingly conducted quality assurance activities very early since 2005. To date, the University has 64 training programs (accounting for 44.14% of the total number of training programs at the University) accredited and internationally recognized under nearly 10 different sets of international standards.
International standards-based education quality assurance is considered an international integration measure of every higher education institution. Successfully achieving institutional-level HCERES accreditation certification for the second cycle affirms that 04 higher education institutions are always committed to building a quality culture in the university, constantly striving to improve the teaching and research quality. This result affirms the prestige and academic performance of the university not only domestically and regionally but also internationally, increasing cooperation opportunities with foreign academic partners to attract international students to study and research towards training program internationalisation.
