Cooperation between HCMUT, Nagaoka University of Technology, 26 Japanese businesses promoted

Nagaoka University of Technology and Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HCMUT) co-held a meeting on February 24 to discuss collaboration opportunities between the industry sector and higher educational institutes. The meeting belongs to a series of events to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Vietnam – Japan diplomatic relation establishment.

Taking part in the meeting were Prof. Dr. Umeda Minoru – Vice President of Nagaoka University of Technology, representatives of 26 Japanese enterprises in various fields of parts manufacturing, software technology, electricity – electronics, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Danh Thao – Vice President of HCMUT, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dang Dang Tung – Head of the Office for International Study Programs, and leaders of HCMUT’s offices, departments.

The meeting focused on cooperation chances for training and research via the Gigaku Tech. Park model among HCMUT, Nagaoka University of Technology, and Japanese companies sited in Vietnam as well as Japan. The most popular activity in this model is the exchange of students, researchers, professors, and engineers between the two higher education institutes, along with opportunities for Vietnamese students to do their internship in Japanese enterprises.

Until now, HCMUT and Nagaoka University of Technology have been co-launching two training programs, namely Affiliate Program with Japan for the major of Electrical-Electronic Engineering and the Japan-oriented Program for the majors of Computer Science and Mechanics Engineering.

“These programs aim at training the human resources that are able to work in an international environment. HCMUT truly appreciates the support from Nagaoka University of Technology and partner companies. We hope that this cooperation is sustainable”, said Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Danh Thao – HCMUT’s Vice President.

Prof. Dr. Umeda shared that HCMUT – VNU-HCM is one important partner of his university in terms of fostering the Gigaku Tech. Park model in Vietnam. The model, developed by Nagaoka University of Technology, aims at forming a network with members being the industry sector, universities, and the local authorities in order to train innovative human resources, contributing to the global industrial development.

In his letter, Chairman of Nagaoka-shi City thanked and expressed his support to exchange activities between businesses, educational institutes from his city and HCMUT.
