Laboratory Engineer in Sensor Technology

The Vietnamese-German University (VGU) is a Vietnamese state university. Founded in 2008, VGU is based on a close cooperation between the Federal Republic of Germany and the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, with the goal to become the leading research university in Vietnam and the region.

Laboratory Engineer in Sensor Technology

Key responsibilities

The main responibilities are to support the development and succeed of the Sensor Lab of Master Study Program in Mechatronics and Sensor Systems Technology (MSST); conduct and set up the experiment related with sensor technology and renewable energy system; supervise student in doing thesis; participate in the research/industrial service projects.

  • Maintain Sensor Technology laboratory equipment through regular service and repair
  • Perform acceptance tests of new equipment
  • Manage laboratory consumables and purchase requests for minor equipment
  • Implement and maintain laboratory safety
  • Developing, setting up, and conducting laboratory experiments for courses of the study program
  • Supervising students conducting laboratory experiments and assess their laboratory reports
  • Assisting students in projects, such as bachelor and master theses
  • Taking part in demonstrations and exhibitions for larger VGU’s events such as Opening Ceremonies or Education Fairs, as well as academic events such as conferences and student recruitment
  • Cooperating with other laboratory engineers or lecturers
  • Supporting research projects under the guidance of faculty
  • Acting as invigilator for exams of all study programs, if required

Qualifications & requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Mechatronic/Electrical Engineering (Master degree is preferable)
  • At least 1 years experiences in Sensor system Technology
  • Experience in Wireless Sensor Network in environmental/traffic/urban development monitoring
  • Knowledge in realtime monitoring sensors is a plus
  • Ability to do the modelling/simulation experiments
  • Understanding about renewable energy system
  • Knowledge to set up and running the sensor system (including fabrication, control system, data…)
  • Renewable energy development and harvesting
  • Good in English both in written and oral
  • Good command in using MS Office Software
  • Creative, initiative, can-do attitude
  • Be able to work efficiently, independent and self-organized
  • Ability to act self-confident in an international working environment
